The 20th annual West Virginia FILMmakers Festival was held this year in Sutton on October 4th-6th. On the final day of the event, the festival announced that this year’s IMPACT award recipient was our founder, Ben Berry.
“Ben Berry is the founder of Mountain Craft Productions. He started the company by himself six years ago in Fairmont with the mission of uplifting the local community, businesses, and people. Mountain Craft Productions’ work continues to push forward a positive narrative for our state. This year alone MCP has produced free or highly discounted work for Leadership WV, The United Way of Marion and Taylor Counties, The WV Community Development Hub, and the WV Breast Health Initiative. MCP will continue pursuing opportunities to tell positive stories about great people, places, and things in WV and none of this would be happening without Ben’s leadership.“
The Impact Award is to honor the individual whose most recent work or contributions – during the twelve (12) calendar months between festivals – has had utmost effects on the West Virginia film industry, or simply upon the culture of film and media creation within the state. The West Virginia FILMmakers Festival Board of Directors oversees the selection. The Impact Award is designed by Blenko Glass Company and etched by Touch of Glass.
This award marks the second time that a Mountain Craft Productions partner has held this honor, as Justin Litton became the first person awarded the IMPACT award in 2016.
